Our next destination was S’Arcada Lupiru Arch (also known as s’Architteddu Lupiru) which is along the trail from Supramine di Baunei to Cal Luna in the Golfo di Orosei. According to Guilain, this double arch, when reached via the overland Selvaggio Blu Trail, is the most arduous trek in Europe and requires both a rappel and a delicate passage on Supramonte di Baunei. Fortunately, it is also accessible from Cala di Luna, a beautiful beach that can be reached by boat from Cala Gonone.
The hike to the arch from the beach is about two miles with 1,895 feet of elevation gain. It’s not a terribly difficult hike but hiking up any hill for two miles is a challenge for me. We spent a couple of hours at the arch waiting for clouds to blow by and were only interrupted by one obnoxious group of tourists who took their selfies and left after about 15 minutes.
